If life is like a ten-speed bike then we rarely use all the gears. Are you realising your full potential in life? If you do, then you will unleash a new you. A rubber band is useless until it is stretched. It is true in life. People are not born great but people become great. There are three things that you can do:-
1 – You need to embrace your future (vs. 1-2)
The future is coming soon you and you need to embrace it. There is no need to look back. It is a new beginning with Joshua. Moses is dead. You may have failed last year because you didn’t try. If you try this year then you can succeed.
-
You need to forget your past guilt – You made mistakes. We have all made mistakes. Forget about it and move on.
-
You need to leave your past behind. You need to forget the past grief – Some people like reliving grief. If it hurts so much then why go through it again and again. We can’t go through our lives reliving death and grief. We need to move forward.
-
You need to forget past glory – The fact that you had a great day yesterday does not mean you will have a great day today or tomorrow. We can’t live our lives in the past. It is what you do now that counts. There are some vitamins that you need every day. You are back to zero each day. You can’t live on past glory. You need to keep climbing. You need to keep going. Are you giving everything?
2 – You must enlarge your faith (vs. 3-7)
We must limit God by our narrow thinking. We must enlarge our levels of expectation in faith. Joshua was to enlarge his faith. Do you believe in God? He believes in you! He wants to enlarge your faith. You need initiative. Initiative is critical:-
-
It is the first step to wherever you want to go. No matter what you want to do. Just do it!
-
It closes the door to fear and opens the door to opportunity.
-
It eases life’s difficulties. You need to start doing it.
-
It is the difference between success and failure. We need initiative.
Those who do not have initiative do not see the consequences of their inaction. They also want someone else to motivate them. They won’t get out of their bed unless someone pushes them. They are always looking around for the perfect time to act. They love tomorrow but not today. Things will get better tomorrow but never today. These people have no initiative. They need to take responsibility for their own life. They are going nowhere. They will blame somebody else. It is always somebody or something else that is at fault. Stop making excuses!
3 – You must engage your foe (vs. 5-9)
You will have foes. The Lord promises victory. Satan is a defeated foe.
-
You rely on God’s conquering power. We can be strong and of good courage. We are more than conquerors. We have an unstoppable power. You don’t have to do it in your own power.
-
You rejoice in His constant presence (vs. 9). God will be with you regardless of whether you realise it or not.
-
You remember His continuing promise. As God was with Moses so He will be with you. You may seem small like a mouse but God is big and can shake up things! Moses did great things in his life. He can do great things in your life as well. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead can empower you.
