“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). Marriage which follows God’s blueprint does not defile the bed. The intimacy of sex was designed by God as an important part of marriage. It is not only for procreation but also for our enjoyment and pleasure. We have allowed our society to produce something very ugly out of something very beautiful. Marriage does not solely depend on sex in order to be a success, but it is difficult to have a successful marriage without it. There are “fornicators and adulterers” who do defile the bed according to Hebrews. Any sexual intercourse outside of the bounds of marriage is unlawful to God and brings judgement. A few areas of defilement are below:-

• Prostitution – Paying for sex or offering sex for money.
• “Swinging” – sex with other married partners. Marriage is exclusively between one man and one woman. It is adultery.
• “Living together” – unmarried couples having sex.
• Same-sex partnerships – Marriage is one man with one woman.
• Bestiality – sex with animals
• Adultery – Sex with someone other than your married partner. A betrayal of a close partnership and promise.

The list is not exhausted but I would be if I tried to name all the deviations from God’s blueprint! We have plenty of information in our newspapers, magazines and on the Internet. There is judges here who decide that it is okay for same-sex partnerships or prostitution for example. There is a higher court that is in Heaven. God will judge wickedness and he won’t use our human laws. He will get His blueprint out and see if it a copy of the original or a corruption. The corruption is sin and will face an angry Judge unless God’s forgiveness is received.
