There are many keys on the keyboard above. If you imagine the keyboard represents the entire spectrum of light. The one red highlighted key is that part of the light spectrum that we can see with our naked eyes. There is a lot part of the light spectrum that is hidden from us. I have a few spiritual thoughts:-
1. The Invisible God
The Bible talks about the invisible God. See Romans 1:20. It is not just because He is far away from us. It is not that He appears in a spectrum of light that we cannot see. We haven’t discovered that angels can be found in the invisible spectrum of light. God is Spirit. See John 4:24. God is not made of matter. He is not part of the physical universe. The creator is not part of His creation.
However, just because God cannot be seen directly does not mean He does not exist. The things He created and the order with which they were designed point toward an Almighty God with tremendous power and wisdom.
2. The Visible Universe
The visible universe speaks to us of the invisible. Nature is an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we only will tune in! Creation is God’s work of art. It is His masterpiece. What does He do to make Himself evident? He made the world. He created it like a potter, or a sculptor or a poet, except He created it out of absolutely nothing. In a poem there is manifest design and intention and wisdom and power. The wind might create a letter in the sand, but not a poem. That’s the point. God acted. God planned. God designed. God crafted. He created and made. God made himself evident to all mankind. The universe is a poem about God.
3. The Light in the Darkness
God has put the sun in the sky to give light by day and the moon and stars to give some light by night. We may be limited in the spectrum of light we can see but there is still much that we can see if we only look. Jesus came to be the light of the world. The trouble is that mankind prefers darkness to light. Why? It is considered easier to hide your sin in darkness! God can see in the dark! There is much of this world who live in the cities and can’t see God’s creation for all the concrete and bricks. They can’t see the stars and moon for all the bright street lamps and advertising boards. They have light pollution for sure.
Jesus is God’s searchlight for the world. See John 3:16. The darkness of sin has necessitated God sending His Son. The Christian Church has been a light on a hill whenever the gospel is preached. If you can’t see the invisible today then look to creation and to Christ for light to see. God is not trying to hide from us but we are too often trying to hide from Him. The Light of the World is near.
