Amazing Creations – The Human Heart

The human heart is a muscular organ that acts as a pump to provide a continuous blood circulation through the human body and is one of the most vital organs in the human body. If it stops then the person will die shortly. What is so amazing about a pump that moves blood around the body?

  • The average adult heart beats 72 times a minute; 100,000 times a day; 3,600,000 times a year; and 2.5 billion times during a lifetime.
  • A kitchen faucet would need to be turned on all the way for at least 45 years to equal the amount of blood pumped by the heart in an average lifetime.
  • Every day, the heart creates enough energy to drive a truck 20 miles. In a lifetime, that is equivalent to driving to the moon and back.
  • The human heart can create enough pressure that it could squirt blood at a distance of thirty feet.
  • The heart begins beating at four weeks after conception and does not stop until death.
  • For humans the normal pulse is 70 heartbeats per minute.
  • Hold your hand out and make a fist. If you’re a kid, your heart is about the same size as your fist, and if you’re an adult, it’s about the same.

To imagine that this organ evolved over time seems plain ridiculous. It needs to be fully functioning in order for us to survive. It is a piece of engineering marvel. It has taken many years for scientists to come up with an artificial heart but these need to be recharged. When this is organ is considered along with the human brain and eye. It is clear the human body is a miracle of engineering and clear evidence of intelligent design.
