God wants to use people who are passionate about Him.
1 – The assessment Christ makes (vs. 17)
This church thought it was doing alright but Jesus was not in agreement. If is not broken, don’t fix it! There is smugness about the church at Laodicea. They had lost the plot. They had lost their passion. Christ makes an assessment of their condition. They are naked and blind. They do not realise their spiritual danger. They are sick and they are making Jesus sick!
2. The advice Jesus gives (vs. 18)
Jesus had a business plan – a dream. In order for the plan to succeed it has to be put through the fire. Your faith has to be put through trials and tribulations. There are always skeletons in our cupboards. Jesus offers healing and clothes to cover their nakedness. Jesus is pictured as a salesman competing with others to sell his wares.
3. The assurance Jesus gives (vs. 21)
When starting your church programme this year, seek to involve Jesus. There is no point doing it without consulting God. We need to pray. Jesus is about to “vomit” the church at Laodicea out of his mouth. He can’t stomach the lukewarm. He is gently knocking at the door of your heart. You need to draw back the bolt and let him in.
