What sort of reputation do you have?

1 – They were dead

The people turned up at church but they were dead! A sleeping church is a church that lives in the past. It is like a costless country club. There is no outreach in the local community. It confuses physical activity with spiritual activity. Are you a sleeping Christian in a sleeping church?

• Church can become a spiritual graveyard.
• It results in people becoming hypocrites committed to nominal faith. Spiritually you die when your heart is not in it.

2 – They could live again

This sea of glass is a symbol of the Word of God. See Revelation 4. The priest in the Old Testament had to use a sea of brass. In the New Testament it is a sea of glass. The Word of God is important.

• Spiritual resurrection – Dead people can live again! God is into resurrection. The Spirit and the Word of God can make a dead person become alive. You can be born-again.
• Pray for a wake-up call. God wants you to be like Jesus. A sleepy church or Christian can be woken by the call of the Holy Spirit.
• We need to do what we can.
• Failure to act results in judgement.

This is the kind of reputation that we want. To be called alive and not seen as a walking “zombie”. It is not activity but attitude.
