What an appealing man this man will be in the eyes of the world. He will be a global charmer. He will seem to be the world’s greatest peacemaker. There is a beast lurking in the wings of history ready to spring out. He is a man with the heart of a beast. He is called the Antichrist. He is called the Beast.

1 – The social agitation that delivers the Beast

The “sea” represents the nations of the world. Out of this seething sea of humanity the Antichrist will rise up.

2 – The satanic attributes that describe the Beast

See Revelation 12:3. The Beast is described the same way. He is the son of Satan. He will be the human incarnation of the Devil. This antichrist is going to have the characteristics of these animals and the empires they represent. (See 2 Thessalonians 2:9) He will be the visible representation of the invisible Devil.

3 – The seductive appeal that disguises the Beast

He has a beastly nature but outwardly he will be suave and sophisticated. He will speak great things and the people of the world will be seduced. He will be handsome and clever. The Beast will be known as the greatest benefactor the world has seen. No one will make war.

4. The sinister ambitions that drive the Beast

There are five to consider:-

• To deify Satan (vs. 4). Satan has always wanted to be worshipped.
• To defy the Saviour (vs. 5). The lies will spring from his mouth like lava from a volcano.
• To destroy the saints. (vs. 6-7)
• To dominate society (8) He will have global control. He will reward and persecute.
• To delude sinners. Satan wants worshippers rather than casualties.

5 – The supporting agent that declares the Beast

This is the false prophet. The Devil imitates God. He will call for people to worship the Beast. He will be an anti-type of the Holy Spirit. He will have three ways of subjugating people:-

• The fire.
• The image.
• The mark – the mark of man trying to make himself God. Everything will be controlled by commerce. It will be a cashless society.
