Enoch was a man who walked by faith. There are four things we can say about Enoch’s walk of faith.
1 – Reality (vs. 5)
Enoch is an example of walking my faith. See Genesis 5:21-24. Enoch’s faith was a real faith. Enoch’s faith pleased God. It pleased God because he “walked with God”. See 2 Corinthians 5:7, Romans 6:4, Galatians 5:16 & Ephesians 5:2. Do you walk with God or do you just talk to God? There has to be harmony between you and the Lord. You can walk with God if there has been reconciliation. Our natures need to correspond if we are going to walk together. You can walk with a dog but not have fellowship with it. When you get saved you get the divine nature and you can walk with God and have fellowship with him. Enoch walked with God for three hundred years!
2 – Revelation (vs. 5)
Real faith accepts God’s revelation about himself. Those who would come to God must believe that he exists. We cannot understand the existence of God by seeing him. No one has seen God the Father except Jesus. We cannot understand the existence of God by reason or by science. In science it has to be repeatable to test it. It is in the beginning God. There is no evolutionary chain. The links are missing. Faith does not have to explain it. See Hebrews 3:4. We have a witness on the inside.
3 – Reward (vs. 6)
Real faith believes more than “the Man upstairs” or a “cosmic force”. If you seek him with all your heart, you will find him. See Jeremiah 29:13. God will reward real faith. He will respond to real faith. See Luke 11:10. If you want the Holy Spirit just ask him in sincerity. God knows how to give good gifts. He has the best gifts.
4 – Rapture (vs. 5)
God had made Enoch to “change places”. He went from Earth to Heaven. It is a beautiful thing when a Christian dies. See Psalm 116:15. Enoch didn’t have a funeral. Enoch represents what will happen at the end of our faith. We might still be alive when the Lord Jesus returns. They will be raptured. Are you looking for the rapture of the Church? Until that day we are walking by faith.
