Jesus Is More Than A Swear Word – Hebrews 8:1

Not long ago in Western world, Jesus Christ was honoured and respected as the One worshipped by the majority of citizens. But today Jesus and His name are profaned throughout our culture, especially in entertainment. Once Jesus is known for whom He is, profanity will turn to praise. Jesus is better than anything or anyone else. The Bible tells us many exciting things about Jesus:-

1 – The final Word from God

See Hebrews 1:1-2 and John 1:1. In the Old Testament God spoke in various ways and at different times but He never spoke it all to one person or at any one time. In these last days that God has spoken to use through Jesus. He is the final word of God. Jesus is God walking on earth. There is no other message. Jesus is God’s final word to man. If you want to know about God then study the Bible and read about Jesus. Jesus was God come in the flesh.

2 – The first cause of creation

See Genesis 1:1, Hebrews 1:2, John 1:1-3 and Colossians 1:16. Jesus Christ is the creator God. He is the creator of all things and without Him nothing could have been created.

3 – The fullness of the Godhead

See Hebrews 1:3 and Colossians 1:19. Jesus Christ is exactly the same as God. He is God! See John 1:18. It can’t be any clearer on the deity of Jesus Christ. We can’t see God but you can see Jesus in the page of the New Testament. See John 14:9. He was seen by those in the New Testament and He will be seen again when He returns at His Second Coming. Jesus was not just a good man. He was the God man. See Hebrews 1:8. God the Father calls Jesus His Son, God. God says it so it must be true! We all try to conform Jesus to our own image. That is why we must read the Bible!

4 – The facilitator of all things

See Hebrews 1:3. It is Jesus who keeps everything together. He prevents this universe from falling apart and going in every direction.

5 – The forgiveness of our sins

See Hebrews 1:3 and Colossians 1:17. Christ is not only the revealer of God but the redeemer of men. Christ purges our sins. He cleansed us. He came to seek and to save those that were lost. He came to test death for every man. He who created the universe came to die for you. The Hebrew Christians understood the meaning. See Hebrews 9:25-26. He is the one true sacrifice. There is no need for more sacrifices.

6 – The finisher of our faith

See Hebrews 1:3 and Hebrews 12:2. The High Priest never sat down. There was no chair. Your work was never done as there was always someone who needed to give a sacrifice for sin. Jesus sat down not because He was tired but because He was finished. It is done. There is nothing you need to do to get to Heaven. You just need to accept Jesus.

7 – Our faithful High Priest

See Hebrews 2:17-18, Hebrews 4:15 and John 14:6. Is a bridge tested when the first car goes over or when hundreds of cars have gone over? Jesus felt the full brunt of temptation and yet he didn’t sin. We have tried and failed. When we go to Jesus with our troubles when know He has gone through human strife. He knows our limitations. He has walked among us. He hears our prayers when we call out to Him. He is our faithful High Priest. Consider Jesus and don’t harden your hearts against God. See Hebrews 3:8-15. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Get right today!
