We generally find New Year resolutions difficult to keep. Here are four promises in the Bible that will give you this year a happy new you! Make these your New Year resolutions.
1 – The contentment of His provision (vs. 5)
Discontentment is a disease that will rob you of your joy. It will make a rich man poor. We need to learn the secret of contentment. There is a difference between necessitates and luxuries. See 1 Timothy 6:6. If you have clothes and food you are to be content. See Ecclesiastes 5:10. If you want it then you won’t be satisfied till you get it. When you get it you won’t be satisfied until you get more and more. This leads to discontentment. See Luke 12:15. Your life is more than material things. Our heart really yearns for God. See Psalm 37:4. If you seek God then He will give you the things that you really need. You can learn to be content and have a great year and life!
2 – The companionship of His presence (vs. 5)
We don’t know what the year will bring. We do not have to face it alone. The Lord will be with us. God will never, ever leave us. He will never let us go. He will never set us free. He will not loosen His grip. There are so many problems in this life that will leave you alone. He will not forsake us. See 1 Samuel 12:22. God’s reputation is at stake. See Psalm 37:25. David could testify to His companionship.
3 – The confidence of His promise (vs. 5)
A promise is only as good as the person who makes the promise. People will lie! God has said it. It doesn’t come from an angel. It is a promise from the Almighty God. You can count on this promise. He has all power, wisdom and He is everywhere. He knows what is best for your life. You might have had a past year of doubt, worry, misery and pain. You are only going to live one time. Don’t mess it up. You can have a happy existence if you have confidence of His promise.
4 – The comfort of His protection (vs. 6)
When you have all the previous then you will have comfort. You can walk around boldly with confidence. We don’t need to go around with our heads hanging down. The Lord is our helper and we can have boldness. God is our “big brother” and He protects from that “big bully” called the Devil. The Lord is my helper.
You need to believe that you can change. You don’t have to be the same person you were last year. You need a spirit of gratitude. You made it through the past year. You need to break through your “breaking points”. You can do more with God’s help. You need to seize the day and let God bless you.
