A Time To Die – Hebrews 2:14-15


Nobody wants to dies but it comes to us all.

1 – The fear of death

See Hebrews 2:14-15.

2 – Ten stages of grief

Not everyone experiences these stages. It depends on the individual and the relationship with the deceased.

  • Shock.
  • Emotional Release.
  • Depression and Loneliness.
  • Distress.
  • Fear of death.
  • A sense of guilt.
  • Hostility and resentment.
  • Inability to return to usual activities.
  • Hope returns.
  • The struggle to affirm reality.

3 – The bereaved person needs three things

  • Safe places.
  • Safe people.
  • Safe situations.

4 – How to sympathise (See John 11:17-36)

  • Be real (vs. 35).
  • Be quiet (vs. 20-27).
  • Be supportive (vs. 28).
  • Be available (vs. 34).

5 – Accepting death

  • Stage 1 – Denial.
  • Stage 2 – Anger.
  • Stage 3 – Bargaining.
  • Stage 4 – Depression.
  • Stage 5 – Acceptance.
