Not everyone experiences these stages. It depends on the individual and the relationship with the deceased.

Fear of death.

A sense of guilt.

Hostility and resentment.

Inability to return to usual activities.

Hope returns.

The struggle to affirm reality.
3 – The bereaved person needs three things

Safe situations.
4 – How to sympathise (See John 11:17-36)

Be real (vs. 35).

Be quiet (vs. 20-27).

Be supportive (vs. 28).

Be available (vs. 34).
5 – Accepting death

Stage 1 – Denial.
