The Church is God’s idea. This is why God sent His Son into the world. The Church shows God’s glory.

1 – It’s about God’s glory

“In order that in the coming ages He might show…” The church is not a club. It is not to be concerned only about its members. The church is to display the glory of God. Christians are imperfect, yet God is able to fit us together into a building to His glory.

2 – It’s about God’s riches

“The incomparable riches of His grace…” This is a foretaste of the coming riches of God’s grace. The best is yet to come. The church is meant to spread everywhere the fragrance of Him, the aroma of Christ. See 2 Corinthians 2:14-15. It is better to build up than to pull down.

Some people don’t even know one another, never mind love one another. Do people smell your aroma? What kind of fruit? See Galatians 5:22. Theology is good but spiritual fruit can change your life. It permeates your life. How can this be?

• We must be born from above.
• We need to be open to the Holy Spirit.
• We need to repent.
• It will involve change. Are you willing to be changed?

3 – It’s about God’s kindness

It is expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus”. There is nothing we can do to make God love us more. There is nothing we can do to make God love us less.
