Our heart’s desire for our children is that they might be saved and serve the Lord. God did not sent an entertainer, he sent a Saviour. See Luke 19:10. This is the reason Jesus Christ came down from heaven. See Matthew 1:21. He will save his people from his sin. It is that simple.
1 – A righteousness God rejects (vs. 1-5)
God rejects the self-righteousness. We can think that our deeds are good enough to get us into Heaven. You don’t change from the outside in to get to Heaven. You need to change from the inside out. You can try and obey all the Ten Commandment and you will go straight to Hell. It is impossible to keep them all. If you fail one then you are guilty of them all in God’s eyes.
Spiritual ignorance can be tragic. You could be driving your car and everything could be working perfectly but then you find out you are going the wrong way! You could be going to Church and giving your tithes but still not know God. It is not a goal to achieve; it is a gift to be received. The worst form of badness is human goodness that says it does not need Jesus.
2. A righteousness that God reveals (vs. 6-8)
If you are not a Christian you are very close to being saved. Nobody needs to go to Heaven or down into the grave to bring Jesus. The word is in your mouth and heart. It got there when you heard the Gospel being preached. Christ has already come down from Heaven and risen from the grave.
3. A righteousness that God receives (vs. 9-12)
It is a statement of God’s revelation. We cannot scientifically prove the origin of the Universe. Science has to look at present phenomenon to theorise the past. It is faith that tells us Genesis 1:1 is true. See Job 38:3ff. Howsoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Don’t let the Devil take the Word out of your mouth and heart.
-
Confess him as reigning Lord (vs. 9). See Romans 14:9. The reason Christ did it all was to be Lord. See Philippians 2:9-10. He is Lord and it is to the glory of God the Father. It is something that we have to confess. Christ does not want to come into your life as a resident, he wants to be president. We can’t live our old way anymore. We can’t live our own way.
-
Confess him as risen Lord (vs. 9). You need to believe that Jesus Christ arose from the dead. This is the number one thing that a Christian has to believe. No other religion can point to someone who rose from the dead. God sent his son, his name was Jesus. There is an empty grave to prove that Jesus Christ lives. He is a risen saviour. He is alive!
-
Confess him as redeeming Lord (vs. 10). Man needs confession that leads to salvation. You can’t sneak into Heaven. You can’t be ashamed of confessing Jesus. See Mark 8:38. There is no back door into Heaven. You are to confess Jesus as Lord.

Confess him as redeeming Lord (vs. 10-12). Man needs confession that leads to salvation. You can’t sneak into Heaven. You can’t be ashamed of confessing Jesus. See Mark 8:38. There is no back door into Heaven. You are to confess Jesus as Lord. Don’t be afraid to confess Jesus Christ. See Matthew 10:32. We are just saying the same thing that God says. You will discover that Jesus is satisfying. (vs. 11). You will not be disappointed. Jesus Christ is sufficient. (vs. 12). When you have Jesus Christ, you have it all.
