Pentecost was a missionary event. The Holy Spirit is still the key to growth. It is the Holy Spirit who gets people into mission. Those who received the Holy Spirit became a missionary people. Jesus’ ministry continues today.

1 – Teaching of Jesus is important (vs 1-3)

Jesus taught throughout his ministry. It was often through His teaching that people believed. If Jesus has not risen we are wasting our time. Without Pentecost we are wasting our time. We need the power of the Holy Spirit.

2 – The promise of the Father (vs 4-5)

We see God the father, His Word and promises.

3 – The fullness of the Holy Spirit (vs 6-8)

The church is:-

• The family of the Father.
• The flock of the Son.
• The fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

4 – The Ascension (vs 9-11)

The Lord teaches a big view of missions. He exchanges their small view for a big one. He promises power to reach into all the world and be witnesses in Jerusalem and at the same time in Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the Earth.
