What is your vision? Have you sought it? Do you buy into your vision? Do you put everything into it? Then you have got it! Saul had a vision. Notice the journey of his vision.
1 – His vision stopped him (vs. 12-16)
You may not have a vision where the sun blinds you. However your vision can still stop you in your tracks.
-
He saw his position – Saul was to take a look at himself. He was persecuting Jesus. It can be disheartening to see where you are in life. We need to see where we are right now.
-
He saw his potential (vs. 16). There was a purpose for Saul’s life. See also Isaiah 6. Saul was to see his potential. He had to see his position first of all.
2 – His vision sent him (vs. 16-18)
God had a mission for Saul. He was to go to the Gentiles. A real vision will get you to stand up and do something.
-
Real vision requires changes. Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Paul. You can’t stay where you are. You can’t do what you are doing now.
-
Real vision inspires. It gives you a reason to get up out of bed in the morning. It gives you passion. It gives your drive. It propels you above your problems.
-
Real vision requires hard work. It requires hard work. You have to do more than just get out of bed. Are you watching the clock or watching productivity? There is satisfaction with hard work if you are following a vision. Visions put a bounce in your step.
-
Real vision takes you out of your comfort zone. We need to develop our minds. We are not to stop once we leave full-time education. We can read books. We can learn new things. We need a vision to be motivated.
-
Real vision means you will stand alone.
-
Real vision will cause you to dream big. When we lose our vision then we fall big. E.g. Elijah.
3 – His vision satisfied him (vs. 19)
You can get satisfied and stop climbing. You find a nice spot and stop your vision. Paul was satisfied with what he was doing and had desire to stop. He didn’t want to be average. An average person is the best the worse and the worse of the best. Don’t be satisfied with average.
-
Exchange all your little options for one big dream. God has given you talents, goals and gifts that you are not using. You are not too old. God called Moses and 80 years old. Caleb was ready to fight at 85 years old. Don’t tell me you are too old! God can do amazing things in your life. Don’t start dying – start living!
-
Expose yourself to successful people. How are you going to succeed if you hang around with a bunch of losers? Be around people who are godly. Hang around with people who are going somewhere in their lives. Don’t hang around with those who are negative or will drag you down.
-
Express belief in your dream. If you don’t believe then you won’t get it done. You need to change your attitude.
-
Expect opposition to your vision. There are always those who don’t like you. Don’t be motivated by the opposition but rather by the opportunity. Don’t be distracted. It is to b expected.
-
Exercise with all of your effort. Don’t do things by half. Put your whole heart into it. Don’t blame someone else. Get some pep in your step. Don’t drag yourself around. Put some effort into it! Give everything that you have got to give. Some things have got to be excluded.
-
Extract everything positive. We think we have problems but if we look around there is always someone worse off. Stop complaining and being negative. There are so many reasons to be positive. God is in control and holds everything together. Take your eyes off the negative and focus on the positive. A vision lifts you above your problems.
-
Exclude negative thinkers. They can be in your own house and family. Negative people will pull you down. You will have no motivation to follow God’s vision.
-
Exceed normal expectation. Go beyond what is normal. Some of us have to do more than others to make our vision a reality.
-
Exhibit an attitude of confidence. You can do it. You will be successful. Don’t let yourself fail. You need confidence. Don’t lose your vision. Inch by inch it is a cinch. Make sure you do it. We don’t accept that it can’t be done. Nothing is impossible if we follow God’s vision for our lives.
