Turn On Your Phone – Luke 11:1-4

God has given us a mobile phone. We can talk to God and He can talk to us. Is the phone on vibrate or silent? Is the phone even turned on? Prayer is how we communicate with God.

1 – Follow the example of Jesus

His phone was always turned on and charged. Jesus prayed in his ministry. He was God and he prayed. Why did He have to pray? He took human attributes and lived his life the way humans should live their life. We are called to pray to God.

2 – Go where the reception is good

Jesus prayed somewhere where the reception was good. He went away from the crowd to pray. You can’t concentrate on prayer in a crowded room. If you use your phone in a noisy place then you can’t concentrate or hear what is being said to you. The same is true when praying.

3 – Listen to what is being said

You can’t keep talking all the time if you are trying to communicate with God. Prayer is not just one-sided. God wants to communicate with you. It is not impersonal. It is intimate like a man and woman in love. We can have communication that is better than the best broadband speed!

4 – Talk to family

The use of “Abba Father” is intimate and personal. This is not a God who is so holy that he cannot be approached. He is holy but we can approach him directly through Jesus. We are like a newborn baby to God. We don’t understand or speak that well.

5 – Keep it respectful and personal

The use of “Abba Father” is intimate and personal. This is not a God who is so holy that he cannot be approached. He is holy but we can approach him directly through Jesus. We are like a newborn baby to God. We don’t understand or speak that well. Are you formal and put on airs when talking to God? We should come with love and respect. We are holy. Not because of anything we have done. It is a gift given in the person of Jesus Christ.

6 – Live for Christ

We are to live for our heavenly Father. You could be an ungodly engineer who comes to Christ and decide you want to be an evangelist to make up for your past. Yet God often wants is for you to be the best engineer you can be. Some of the most effective lives for Christ were short. God needs people in the workplace to make a difference inside and outside. The evangelist or missionary needs financial support from those in the workplace.

Don’t forget to turn on your phone today and receive the power to love, forgive and live your life.
