No one knows the day that Jesus will return. It would be foolish and impossible to name the day. However, we do know what the last days will be like up until the return of Jesus. The Bible tells us it will be like the days of Noah. There will be ignorance and indifference. See also Genesis 4-6. Here are seven marks of the days of Noah:-
1 – Days of secular philosophy (Genesis 6:5-6)
The word “imaginations” means to fashion as a potter. They were trying to mould society by philosophy. New age philosophies are rampant today. These philosophies deny the Bible and the deity of Jesus Christ. This is in our arts, sciences, education and religion. The Christian Church bears the main brunt of these secular philosophies.
2 – Days of scientific progress
They had reached the top of knowledge at their time. They had built great cities. See Genesis 4:17. There was an industrial revolution. See Genesis 4:2. Man is creating an artificial technological paradise. The Ark was built according to God’s specifications and it was achieved. We have seen the atomic bomb, put people on the moon, mapping of the human genetic code, computers and much more. We are in days of great scientific progress.
3 – Days of social plays (Genesis 6:11)
The days of Noah were a time of great violence. We are living in times of wars, organised crime, rape, burglary and domestic violence. Our jails are overcrowded by the number of criminals. We have revised a generation of children without religious values in schools. Drugs are being legalised and there is an increase in suicides. There is an increase in multiple marriages and divorces. See Genesis 4:19 & 6:1-2. The number of broken homes has resulted in more crime. There is an increase in the number of abortions. These abortion clinics sell body parts for money.
4 – Days of sexual perversion (Genesis 6:5)
This verse does not mention how sick this imagination was. See Luke 17:26ff. Jesus links the days of Noah with the days of Lot. God is against sexual perversion. See Leviticus 20:13. The result of sin can be seen in the diseases that follow. See Romans 1:24-28. The innocent people often suffer with the guilty. God will judge those who justify their own sexual sin. It is the same urges in homosexuality that there is in lust, incest and adultery.
5 – Days of selfish prosperity
See Ezekiel 16:49-50. They had more than they needed and hardly needed to work. We have plenty and we think that God is smiling upon us.
6 – Days of solemn preaching (Genesis 6:13)
God never sends judgment without sending warning. Noah preached to the world at that time. See 2 Peter 2:5. The world did not listen. Can you imagine how the media would react to Noah today? Noah was a preacher of righteousness.
7 – Days of sudden panic (Genesis 6:17)
Things seemed to be going well on that last day before the flood. The flood waters came suddenly. People have to run for the high places. The door of the Ark is shut by God. They can beat on the door but it is too late. Noah and his family went into the Ark a minority but came out a majority. People need to be saved – before it is too late.
