Do those who do not know the Lord the Bible is a mystery story. There are some scared secrets that God reveals to his children. They are revealed through parables. In Matthew 13 we have seven parables that reveal what we should expect.
1 – Expect many to reject the Gospel
You can clearly expound the gospel and people will reject Jesus. This is clearly seen in the parable of the sower. Jesus talks about four types of soil. Three types of soil will reject the message and only one type of soil will be fruitful. Expect many to reject the gospel. Do not see it as a failure on your part. If you keep scattering the seed some will accept the gospel. If they open their hearts then God will help it grow.
2 – Expect many church members to be hypocrites
See the parable of the wheat and the tares. The church will have those who are saved and those who are not. Tares and wheat look alike. It is not always possible to know the difference. At the end of the age God will separate between the two. Expect hypocrites in the church because the Devil is at work. Do not get into a crusade to root out tares as you may root out wheat by mistake.
3 – Expect the rise of false cults
See the parable of the mustard seed. The unnatural growth of the mustard seed into a tree and the birds show that false cults are mentioned here. The birds are the same that snatch away the seed in the parable of the sower. (vs. 3) Nothing has gone wrong with the Gospel. Jesus said it would happen.
4 – Expect to find corruption in the professing church
See the parable of the leaven. Unleavened is a symbol of purity. Leavened bread is a symbol of sin in the Bible. The devil seeks to corrupt the church.
5 – Expect God to keep his promises to Israel
See the parable of the Hidden treasure. Jesus called Israel his peculiar treasure. The treasure was buried in the field (Israel was nothing in the world). The treasure is uncovered for a while. (Jesus shows the kingdom to Israel) The treasure is covered again. People do not understand God’s plan. It is hidden from them. God is not finished with Israel.
6 – Expect God to keep his promises to the Church
See the parable of the pearl of great price. In spite of all that is not good in the church Jesus will build his true church. It will consist of all those who like a pearl. They go from something ugly to something beautiful. The church is on the winning side.
7 – Expect God to finish what he started
See the parable of the dragnet. God has his net going through the nations of this world to win souls. God will sort the fish. He will keep what is good and throw away what is bad. You do not want to be among those that are thrown away into everlasting punishment.
