Facing Your Fear Of The Future – Matthew 6:25-34

There are people who are afraid of the future for some reason or another. It may be that a person has lost a loved one and is in fear of facing future without that person. There are three simple steps to face our future without fear.

1 – Remember God’s past performance

If you are here today then you have survived. God has already delivered you. Why are you afraid about tomorrow? See Deuteronomy 1:30. Take a trip down memory lane. The same God, who helped in the past, will take care of you right now and the future. See Isaiah 46:3-4. God has been looking after you from the womb. You have been alive for many years. Sometimes it is good to look back and see what God has done for you. We need to elevate our thoughts. It is a sin to worry.

2 – Realise God’s present promises (vs. 25-34)

Some people worry that we have nothing to worry about. We can all find a reason to worry. God has promises to counter our reasons to worry. See Psalm 32:8 and Deuteronomy 31:8.

  • Guard you.
  • Guide you.
  • Go ahead of you.
  • God is already there.
  • Give you exactly what you need.

There is something that we can do that God cannot do. We can break a promise but God cannot break His promise. The future comes one day and a time so we are to leave for today. Worry is about the future and not the past or today. We worry because we do not know. We do know who holds tomorrow. We don’t see birds with high blood pressure, ulcers, on drugs or lying down and complaining! They are always singing! They don’t have a care in the world. Some of these birds fly year after year and many thousands of miles and they make it. See Psalm 23. Don’t worry about your future. The worry might kill you!
