If you look back in recent history it is hard to imagine that one person could rule the world. Yet, this is clearly taught in the Bible during the end times before the return of Jesus Christ. However, the situation today makes it easier to imagine. Global communication is a reality. Technology has advanced at great speed. This man is known as the “Antichrist”. He will be against Christ and seeking to be instead of Christ. He will lead the armies of the world. He will be a dictator that will be greater than any other before him. He will be an evil man appearing as a “saviour”. Hitler was considered in the 1940s as the fulfilment of this prophecy. He tried to resurrect the European Empire but ultimately failed. We are not able to identify this world ruler. He will only be revealed after the church has been raptured. See 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8. His nature is not a mystery.

1 – Charismatic Leader

He will be a charismatic leader. See Daniel 7:8, 20, 25. He says great things that will captivate and sway people. See Revelation 13:5. He will have the gift of the gab! In a world devoid of great orators, he will be welcomed by the masses. He will manipulate the people by staging mass events and making great promises of peace. He will seem to have all the answers. Music, pomp and ceremony will be orchestrated for the maximum effect. It will be hypnotic in its effect. His appearance and speaking ability will impress. See Daniel 7:20. He will be attractive to the eye. People will flock to this magnetic personality through the media of TV, etc. He will rise in a time of great crisis and appear to be holding all the answers. People will follow him.

2 – Cunning Leader

He devours other kings in order to build his own kingdom. See Daniel 7:8. He uses his cunning to gain increasing power. He will spread his influence geographically throughout the world. See Daniel 11:21. He comes in apparent peace but uses intrigue to get power. He won’t need warfare to get this power. He is too smart and crafty. He has the intelligence of Satan to empower him.

3 – Cultic leader

See Daniel 7:25. He will speak out against the true God of Heaven. See Revelation 13:8. He wants the world to worship him in his own cult. He will change the calendar to influence his own festivals. He will create his own laws and traditions and punish those whom do not follow.

4 – Cruel leader

See Daniel 7:23-25. He will eventually display his cruelty. He will target the people of the true God. However, he will then turn on everyone else. He is going to trample down all those whom oppose him. Those whom become Christians will be persecuted and killed for their faith. He will beat them down before he kills them. There will be prisons and torture. The Antichrist will be systematic in his approach against his opponents. He will take his time before killing millions. He will be a dictator whose cruelty will be more than any other the world has ever known. He will be worse than Hitler, Stalin and Mao.
