The Season of the Nest – Proverbs 22:6

There is no point trying to build a Christian home if you are not looking at the blueprints of the designer. See God’s perfectly designed original instructions. Too many foundations are built on rubbish rather than a rock. See Matthew 7:24. God hates divorce.

1 – What does a Christian parent do?

See Proverbs 22:6.

  • “Train up” – developing a thirst.
  • “A child” – not just an infant. See 1 Samuel 4:21.
  • “In” – in co-operation with.
  • “The way”. See Proverbs 30:18-19.
  • “He should go”.
  • “When he is old” – Hair on chin.
  • “He will not depart from it”.

2 – Then comes the season of the empty nest

The children go off to get married or leave home.

3 – Why release comes hard

  • Parents build themselves into their children rather than developing their children according to how God designed them.
  • Children were never designed to be the weld that holds the home together. See Ephesians 5:22-23.
  • Trauma because of an abnormal, unhealthy need for the child. See 2 Corinthians 12:15.

4 – Getting ready for release

  • Training taking parents legacy. See Ecclesiastes 2:18-20.
  • Communication after children leave. See Proverbs 23:22-23.
  • A ministry of continual prayer. See Job 1:1-5.

THOUGHT: The single most important ingredient in both raising and releasing children is God given sensitivity.
