Finding God’s Way in a Dark Day – Proverbs 3:5-6

We are not to learn to our own understanding as it is influenced by darkness. In the last 40 years there have been great advances in technology such as TV, satellites, computers, airplanes, and space ships. We get to places faster but we don’t know why we are there. In those same 40 years crime, divorce, etc are on the increase. Man is a clever creature but he has lost his way in the darkness. See Psalm 32:8. God will lead us through the darkness. See Ephesians 2:10-12. God had a plan for my life before I was born. God has a plan for individuals. Success is not money or fame. Success is what God has for your life. God does not make copies, he makes originals. We are to let God direct our lives.

1 – There should be a trusting confidence

We are to trust in the Lord – There is no plan or programme. There is only one person we are to trust in. Do you have a half-hearted trust? You cannot trust a person you do not love. It’s hard to trust somebody you do not love. If you knew him you would love him. Why do we not know the Lord? It is because we do not spend time with him. It is not always love at first sight. Are you spending quality time with God? Lean not to your own understanding – God is not saying we are not to use sanctified wisdom.

2 – There must be a total commitment

We are to acknowledge God in all our ways. Is God in charge of all areas of your life? In your business life, domestic life, worship life, leisure life, etc. You need to give a blank cheque to God and ask him to fill it in. Are you willing to pray “anywhere, anytime, any cost”. Do you trust God with ALL of your heart?

3 – A thrilling consequence

A divine direction – “He shall direct thy paths”. How will God speak to me? One way is through his word. God’s word is light to my path. God will speak directly to your heart when you pray. Prayer is a two way street. God uses providence to direct us. There are doors that only God can open and doors he can close. God cuts a path for us. He makes the path by clearing the way. God bulldoze a way for us. God does not have a road map he has a relationship.
