Crossing God’s Deadline – Proverbs 29:1

There is a deadline that people can cross which leads to them never getting saved and from which they cannot find salvation.

1 – Spiritual direction

God speaks to use many times. He will often reprove us again and again. God does this through:-

  • Spirit – God’s Holy Spirit is seeking to convict and convert.
  • Servants – God’s soul winners and preachers.
  • Sorrow – It can be sickness and death that makes a person realise their mortality and need for God.
  • Scriptures – It is the Word of God. It can pierce the hardest heart.

2 – Stubborn disobedience

People can be “stiff-necked”. We can shake our fist at God. There are a few ways people display this stubborn disobedience:-

  • Procrastination – Proverbs 27:1. People can keep putting things off. The only time you can be saved is now. You may not have tomorrow! Why do people postpone salvation? It is a stubborn will against God. It is foolish to boast of tomorrow. A Christian has a hope and strength that others do not have. It is good to know Christ in this life. Something worse can come tomorrow. God needs to open our eyes. Tomorrow may not come.
  • Pride – Pride makes us look at others around us. We don’t want to make a spectacle of ourselves. We are not to be ashamed of Jesus.
  • Pleasures and possessions – We realise that we may have to give up something that we enjoy. See 2 Timothy 3:4. We love pleasure more than God. It is a foolish thing to do. God is no man’s debtor. What you give up is nothing compared to what God gives. God gave up much for us – we are in His debt.

3 – Sudden destruction

This is the third step of what happens when we cross God’s deadline:-

  • The destruction of the mind – God will cause strong delusion. See 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12. The Devil deceives people. God can send delusion upon people to believe a lie. God sends this judgment upon those who wilfully reject Jesus Christ. If you will not accept the truth, then God will allow you to accept a lie.
  • The desertion of the Spirit – God will give up on a person. See Genesis 3:6. God is very patient, but there come a time that the Holy Spirit can be so insulted that He no longer speaks to your heart. The Spirit of God draws you to Jesus Christ. See Romans 1:24-28. See Hebrews 6:4-6. These people have come up to brink of salvation and have wilfully decided not to obey the truth. They have been “enlightened” but rejected Jesus Christ. This is dangerous to do.

4 – Sudden death

Death can suddenly come like a lightning bolt. Your sin may fill your cup to the brim. God can then decide then to take your life away. It depends on God’s patience and mercy.

5 – Settled destiny

Is there a chance after death? No! There is no second chance after death. It is a fallacy that some may choose to believe but it is not true. You must settle your destiny before you die. It is not wise to leave it to the last moment. You do not know when your last moment will be!

  1. Pray for me. I’ve asked Jesus to save me and probably 100 times at least. But I have no peace and feel I crossed that deadline. Please give me any advice on how I may not have done this. I plead for Gods mercy
