David is going through a tough time but God takes David from the mire to the choir. Here are some reasons to be thankful when things are tough.
1 – We have experienced his tenderness (vs. 1-2)
-
He extends tenderness to the waiting one (vs. 1). There is not a thing David can do but wait on God. David needed the Lord to deliver him. He is thankful while he waits. He has experienced God’s tenderness.
-
He extends tenderness to the wounded one (vs. 2). It is a person who is trapped in an underground pit while the enemy roars around it. The Lord reached down into this pit. He did not turn his back on David. See John 6:37.
-
He extends tenderness to the wretched one (vs. 1). The Lord stretched down and bent over. David could not get out of the pit. The Lord Almighty stooped down to help when David could not get out.
2 – We have experienced his touch (vs. 2)
God has brought us out of trouble and put our feet upon a rock.
-
The grace of his touch – It was unmerited favour that brought us out of sin. God did more than just see David in trouble. He did something about it. God cared enough. He will touch our lives.
-
The glories of his touch
-
It is a touch of power.
-
It is a touch of provision. God takes us out of the pit and puts us in a place of safety. We are on firm ground. We should be thankful every day!
-
It is a touch of promise. God has established our going. God has a plan for my life and has ordered my steps. See Psalm 37:23. When we are happy that God has ordered our steps then we will have victory in our lives. Jonah didn’t like it and his life went down, down and down. There are blessings for those who accept his steps.
3 – We have experienced his transformation (vs. 3)
This is the real proof to others. We have been changed! Two things have happened to David:-
-
He is now a praising man. What is in his heart comes to his lips.
-
He is a proclaiming man. He is going to tell others about it. He can’t keep it to himself. It will have an effect on others.
You have to be thankful when things are tough if you are going to experience all this.
