Passing On The Good News – Psalm 107:1-2

See 1 Peter 1:18-19. We are talking about the greatest news in the whole world. It has become old news to many people. God’s plan is for us to share the good news to others. God’s Word is your friend. Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel. If it old news to you then you need a spiritual awakening. How can you keep quiet about something that is so vitally important? Why should we feel so compelled to tell the good news?

1 – Reasons to pass on the Good news

Here are three very good reasons.

  • We are encouraged to do so in the Scriptures – See 1 Timothy 2:3. Jesus is not your private business. It is God’s desire that all be saved. How can we be so quiet? God intends for the whole world to know. See Mark 5:19. The plan is to tell others what God had done for you. You have a testimony no matter how you came to Christ. You could not save yourself or get to heaven without the work of God. Greatness is living obediently before God. We have knowledge that needs to be passed onto others. See 1 Thessalonians 2:3-6. It is a sin to be quiet about the Gospel. There is an obligation to pass on the good news.
  • The spiritual condition of those who are not saved – See Isaiah 59:1-2, Ephesians 4:18 & John 3:16, 36. People who have rejected or not heard the Gospel are separated from God, living in spiritual darkness and living under the wrath of God. See Revelation 20:11-15. This is the Word of God and this is the destination of those who are lost. See Luke 16:26. There is NO second chance after death. The Bible does not even hint at purgatory.
  • When someone hears and accepts the Good News they are redeemed – This person is adopted into the family of God, has eternal life, never suffer the punishment of sin, etc, etc. God is not concerned with male or female. He is not concerned with black, white or yellow.

2 – Reasons why we do not pass on the Good news

We need to overcome these reasons so that we can pass on the good news to others:-

  • We do not believe the testimony of scripture – We do not really believe that if people reject the Gospel that they are going to Hell. We do not believe the Scriptures.
  • Fear of rejection – There are some people who don’t like you anyway! Do you think you that everyone will someday like you? God knows how to transform things into good.
  • Sin in our life – Sin keeps us from passing on the good news.
  • We doubt the power of God – The power of God changed your life. He changed my life. Tell others what God has done for you. Has the Gospel changed since you got saved? No! The message is the same and the power is the same.
  • We have mistaken ideas – We do not have to follow a process to lead people to salvation. It is the Holy Spirit who will convict people of sin. Everyone needs the same message. It does not matter if they are rich or poor.
  • Self-centredness – We are just so busy. We don’t have time. We are not sensitive to people because we put ourselves first.
  • We are insensitive to the people around us – They are just waiting for someone to tell them.

Are you ready to pass on the good news?
