How To Make The Rest of Your Life The Best of Your Life – Psalm 23:6

Satan has no happy old people. He has some happy young people. But Satan has no happy old people. Satan always gives the best first and the worse last. See Proverbs 20:17. It starts sweet and ends sour. It doesn’t get any better! Satan does not have any happy old people. What do aged atheists have to discuss before they die? Old atheists do not go away they just go to hell. God always says the best for last. See Jesus at the wedding feast – He kept the best for last. It is good now and it gets better! The best is yet to be! There are two sheepdogs called goodness and mercy that follow us (Christians) all the days of our lives. God’s goodness in our good times and God’s mercy in our bad times. The house of God is heaven. There are three things we can say:-

1 – The certainty of it – surely

There are no doubts about it. See John 14:1-3. Jesus Christ was truth incarnate. He does not tell lies. There are three things we can say with certainty about Heaven.

  • It is a present place – Heaven is a place on God’s map. The Bible speaks of Heaven being in the north. See Isaiah 14:13 – It is above the stars of God, the sides of the north. See Leviticus 1:11 – The sacrifice was to face north. There is a place in the north that is Heaven. It is called the third heaven that is beyond the stars. Paul was taken there out of his body. The Bible mentions three heavens – the atmosphere, the starry heavens and God’s heaven – the third heaven. When a Christian dies he steps into this third heaven. See 2 Corinthians 5:6-7. We are confident that when we die we will be with the Lord in Heaven. See Acts 7.
  • It is a perfect place. Nobody knows what we will be like. Heaven is the presence of all that is good and the absence of all that is evil. It is all that the loving hand of God can prepare.
  • It is a purposeful place – There are things to be done.

2 – The company of it

Whenever a believer dies they go to heaven. If you are a believer you will see them again. This is not sentimentality – it is biblical truth. Heaven is a place that has been prepared for those who die in Christ. Moses and Elijah are there. They were not observed into nothingness. David will be there to tell you about the 23rd Psalm! All the saints of all the ages will be there. The Lord Jesus will be there. Today we walk by faith and not by sight. In heaven we shall see Jesus face to face. See John 17.

3 – The constancy of it

Sheep are nomadic and always wandering. They do not settle down and stay in one place. This world is not our home and we are not to look for a city which has a builder and maker who is God! It is a place of constant praise. It is eternal. There is no end to Heaven. Five minutes you die will you be in heaven or hell? Get right with God NOW before it is too late!
