The Devil wants you to think negatively about God. He wants you have to do this so that he can do anything he wants with you. What do we have in the Lord Jesus?
1 – The fullness we have in Christ – he prepares a table
Who sets the table in your house when you have visitors? There is a pattern to setting up the silverware, linen, crystal, etc. You want to honour the person who is coming. God has put on an apron. He has prepared a table for me. This is expensive perfumed oil by the door that was put on the face and the head of the honoured guest. It was a way of saying that you were special. If a stranger called at your house it was the expected law that you feed the person. If you wanted them to not stay the night you would be given a cup that was half-full. If you liked them and wanted them to stay you would fill the cup to overflowing. Jesus calls us friend. Jesus Christ satisfies the deepest hungers of our heart. The Bible is a feast from the start to the end. It is also table of restoration. It is a table of redemption that is yet to happen at the marriage feast of the Lamb. Our salvation is a not a funeral it is a feast.
2 – The freshness we have in Christ – anoints our head
Psalm 92:10; 45:7. Every morning God anoints me with fresh oil. Other things get older and stale but the things of God are always fresh.
3 – The freeness we have in Christ – our cup runs over
God has an open hand and an open heart. See John 2 – 120 gallons! When Jesus fed the 5,000 there were 12 basketfuls left over. It was the fatted calf that was killed. God wants to give only the best to his children. Do you think of God in that way? God does not measure his blessings drop by drop – our cup overflows. How we ought to be like this. We often want bigger cups! Like the man who wanted a bigger barn. Let the cup run over and let it be a blessing to someone else. Come and dine! Come and dine!
