There is no way that you can have a successful home without the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are for all time and are complete. You disregard them at your peril. You do not so much break the commandments but rather are broken by them.

This commandment forbids false worship and commands true worship. The best thing you can do for your children is to teach them how to worship. God is worth all that we have – that is worship. We become like what we worship. Everyone worships something. It is important that we learn family worship.

1 – A proper conception of God

God is spirit and so he must be worshipped in spirit and truth. What material thing can designate God? See Isaiah 30:45. There is only ONE god. It is impossible to fully understand what God is like. E.g. The trinity. God is jealous of worship to other gods and will not allow it. God has a monopoly in being God. No thing or anybody can represent him. Anything you love, fear or serve more than God is your god. We are to love God with all of our heart. You can have idols in your hearts without making them with your hands. (E.g. Money).

2 – A powerful communication of God

It is important that we demonstrate our worship of God in our lives. Christian parents should be attending a local church as a matter routine to worship God. We are to hand down to our children, grand-children, etc.

3 – A prayerful celebration of God

What would your children say if they were asked what the most important thing is in your life? Would it be God? Do your children know that you love God? Pass your love for God on to your family. We need to teach our children the truth of the second commandment.
